“Do you see? Since books are not saved even at Court, so that they won’t be taken away from me, I have written my name on them”, with these words – jokingly reported by Carducci – the queen emphasised the importance she gave to her book collection, in which works belonging to Charles Albert and Vittorio Emanuele II are also included, as well as some books related to the Savoy arms of her son Vittorio Emanuele III and daughter-in-law Elena. The bindings in silk, morocco, parchment, with arms or with the monograms of the royals reflect the taste of their time and a strong sense of belonging to the lineage.
