Essentially, the approximately 860 volumes received at the Library in the first half of the twentieth century can be categorized into five groups unrelated to the 1904 fire: the donation from Knight Faustino Curlo; that of lawyer Roberto Ariani; that of Ludovico Baldassarre Piano, a former employee at the National Library of Turin; that of Enrico Carreras, director of the magazine La Medianità; and a small group received for legal deposit.
The donation from Turin lawyer Roberto Ariani, received in July 1946, comprised mostly legal texts, psychology books, and volumes on various subjects, including military matters with accompanying photographs from his time as a lieutenant in the 40th Infantry Regiment during the Italian colonial period.
In 1946, Ludovico Baldassarre Piano donated his book collection, consisting mainly of encyclopaedic, scientific, and literary texts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Lastly, Enrico Carreras donated around twenty texts on experimental spiritualism and psycho-physical and moral sciences, reflecting his interests as director of La Medianità magazine in Rome.
