Direct lending service is provided at the distribution-loan room and is governed by:
- Regulations containing rules on state public libraries (Presidential Decree No. 417, July 5, 1995, Art. 50-60)
- Rules of procedure of the National University Library of Turin
Schedules
The last withdrawal from the book depository is made within 15 minutes after closing time.
Mode
The loan can be made:
- directly on the premises in the distribution-loan room
- via the reservation form to be sent to bu-to.prenotazioni@cultura.gov.it
The user is notified by email about the availability of the requested material, which must be picked up from the library within 3 days.
A maximum of 5 volumes may be borrowed at a time, for a maximum of 3 works.
One can delegate a person of one’s choice to pick up the volumes, after filling out and handing in the proxy at the distribution room(proxy form).
No proxy is required to return the volume.
Admission
To access the direct lending service, one must be registered with the Library and be 18 years of age or older.
Italian, EU and non-EU citizens with the following requirements are eligible for the loan service:
- have reached the age of 18 years
- On-site completion of guarantee document by parent/guardian in case of minors(minor user loan guarantee form)
- be Italian citizens residing in Piedmont
- Be Italian citizens residing in other regions who can document residence in Piedmont for study, research or work purposes
- Be citizens of EU countries who can document residence in Piedmont for study, research or work purposes.
- be citizens of non-EU countries, holding a residence permit issued by the Region’s Police Headquarters, who can document residence in Piedmont for study, research or work purposes.
Self-certification-declaration in lieu of affidavit-can be submitted by filling out the self-certification form.
Any change in residence, domicile, telephone, email, must be promptly communicated by email or telephone.
The data provided will be processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679.
Term and extension of the loan
The loan has a term of 30 days and can be extended for an additional 15 days.
Extension can be requested, by phone or email, only once and before the loan expiration date.
Sanctions
A user who is late in returning volumes will be suspended from service for the period corresponding to the accumulated delay.
A user who returns damaged work received on loan or loses it is obliged to reinstate it or replace it. If this is impossible, he is obliged to pay an amount not less than twice the commercial value of the document.
In compliance with Article 58 of Presidential Decree 417/1995, the user in default will be excluded from Library attendance, reported to the Ministry of Culture for exclusion from state public libraries and reported to the judicial authorities.
Materials excluded from the loan
Excluded from lending are manuscripts, works of special value and rarity or in a precarious state of preservation, books kept by the Library as legal deposit, periodicals, reference works, dissertations, gifts, and scholastics with SCOL placement.
