Reproductions

There is the possibility of requesting reproductions of bibliographic materials for study and research purposes.

In the reading rooms and open shelf is possible:

  • Make scans using self-service digital scanners located in the halls;
  • Reproduce at their own expense and by their own means (cameras, smartphones, tablets, etc.) for personal use and study purposes the works owned by the Library, in accordance with current copyright law, provided that the state of preservation of the works allows reproduction (if in doubt, always ask the staff in the room);
  • View microfilms of some modern periodicals (list here)

Remotely, it is possible:

  • Obtain copies of digital reproductions already in the Library’s possession through special digital display case service.

It is specified that digitizations owned by the Library may be granted free of charge for research or study purposes. The use of images for editorial or commercial purposes may also be permitted, in compliance with current copyright law; in this case, a specific application must be submitted to the Institute, which may charge a concession fee pursuant to Article 108 of Legislative Decree No. 42 of January 22, 2004, as amended.

For costs related to reproductions of cultural property, as well as cases of reuse of the same reproductions, please refer to the Ministerial Decree No. 108 of March 21, 2024..
